£100,000 worth of new play equipment, designed with the help of Oundle CE Primary School’s children, has been officially opened by the Town’s Mayor, June Round.
The project has been masterminded by Oundle Town Council which pledged half the money and secured the same amount from the environmental group WREN.
The youngsters’ drawings of the equipment inspired the Council to seek a grant with Cllr George Higgins doing much of the work.
The make-over for the town’s Pocket Park in New Road has taken months to complete but its state-of-the-art recreational equipment is expected to draw thousands from the town and its many surrounding villages.
The photo shows some of the pupils enjoying the new facilities. Oundle Primary headteacher Mrs Janet McMurdo is very proud to know that the pupils were involved in making the scheme a reality.
A special celebratory event is planned for the Spring of 2012 when a new perimeter fence will also have been installed.
