Oundle Town Council is responsible for some local services mentioned below, whilst the District and County are responsible for others, notably overall Planning Decisions (East Northants) and Roads, Traffic & Parking (Northamptonshire County Council).


The Council is responsible for the following, amongst others:

  • Examining and advising East Northants Council on Planning Applications
  • Properties owned by the Council - see List of Council Properties
  • Open spaces where adopted by the Council
  • The Cemetery on Stoke Doyle Rd
  • Town Council Room and Hall Rental
  • Dog Bins
  • Town lighting
  • Market Place
  • Liaising with local Police on Town behaviour, activities and Policing needs
  • Market hire applications e.g. Thursday, Saturday and European markets
  • Notice Boards at Council Offices, Drill Hall and Library and Queen Victoria Hall
  • Public awareness, by means of a quarterly bulletin The Oracle and the Annual Town Meeting (last held 30th April 2008).
  • Conformity with National Local Council standards
Market
