Become a Councillor for Oundle Town Council
As a councillor you can become a voice for your community and affect real change. Councillors are community leaders and represent the aspirations of the public that they serve. By standing for Oundle Town Council you could make a real difference to your local neighbourhood.
What I can expect?
There is lots of support available to newly elected councillors, from training and development courses run by the local County Association of Local Councils, to representation by the National Association of Local Councils, based in London and support from fellow councillors and the Town Clerk.

How much time would I need to spend?
Generally, councillors say their duties occupy them for about three hours a week. This will include time preparing for and attending the meetings. You will be summoned to attend the full council meeting and expected to join at least one of the other meetings.
When are meetings held?
• Planning Committee: 1st Tuesday of the month
• Full Council: 3rd Tuesday of the month
• Estate Management: 4th Tuesday of the Month
• Finance & General Purposes: Bi-monthly
How do I become a councillor?
To stand for election you will need to fill in the nomination papers and deliver it, by hand, to Election Teams, East Northamptonshire Council, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ

Covid 19 Safety Measures
In light of the current Covid 19 situation additional safety measures will be in place to maintain the safety and security of all those involved in the nomination process.
The Elections Team can informally check a candidates nominations paper before formal submission. Attach your nominations document to an email and send to email@example.com - this service will only be available until 4pm on Wednesday 7 April.
Please note that irrespective of any informal checks undertaken, nomination papers must still be formally submitted by hand during the nomination period which closes at 4pm on 8th April 2021 to the Elections Team, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ.
An appointment system will be in operation for the formal submission of nomination papers. If a candidate or their representative arrives to deliver nomination papers and they do not have an appointment they may be asked to wait whilst the Elections Team process the nomination paper of a person who has made an appointment. Visitors delivering nomination papers will be asked to maintain social distancing, wear a face mask (unless exempt) and use the hand sanitiser provided.
Nomination papers should not be delivered by anyone who is displaying Covid 19 symptoms, has recently tested positive for Covid 19 or who is isolating. The candidate should identify another person to deliver their nomination paper in these circumstances.
