Oundle Town Council Objects

On September 3rd 2019, the full Oundle Town Council debated two planning applications that endangered the future of the Oundle Neighbourhood Plan, and unanimously decided to object to them.

The Outline Planning applications on Cotterstock/St Peters Road (19/01327/OUT – 130 houses) and St Christophers Drive (19/01355/OUT – 65 houses and large extra-care home), have been submitted just before the Oundle Neighbourhood Plan goes to it's Examiner and hopefully a town referendum, after a huge amount of detailed community engagement and expert consultation (see this month's OTC section of the Advertiser).

These sites were rejected by the Neighbourhood Plan, for the many reasons shown in the Annual Town Meeting presentation

They raise substantial traffic, access, and infrastructure issues, and it was felt unsuitable to develop right beside the busy A605 and the town sewage plant.

The Outline Planning applications, if approved, would ride roughshod over the proposals in the Oundle Neighbourhood Plan. Oundle Town Council felt the two applications entirely undermine the Neighbourhood Plan process and the principle behind it: supporting local people making decisions about their local area.

For more details, see the planning applications at the East Northants Planning website (where you can add your comments or objections BEFORE September 28th for Cotterstock/St Peters Road, and September 18th for St. Christopher's Drive):

1. Cotterstock/St Peters Road (19/01327/OUT – 130 houses)

2. St Christophers Drive (19/01355/OUT – 65 houses and large extra-care home)

THE MORE PEOPLE WHO RAISE CONCERNS ABOUT LOCAL DEMOCRACY BEING BEATEN DOWN, THE STRONGER OUR CASE.
