Oundle Primary School appeals for any spare or unwanted tablets, notebooks or large sim-free mobile phones
As the thought of a long summer of home schooling looms, Oundle Primary School (OPS) is making an appeal for any spare or unwanted tablets/notebooks, even large sim-free mobile phones that some pupils who don't have access to such devices could use for their home learning.
If you have an unwanted or unused tablet etc at home, and would be willing to donate it to OPS, please read on.
Devices should be –
- In working condition (min requirement – able to get onto WiFi and hence the internet)
- With chargers and if possible cases
- Factory reset with any boxes, instructions etc if possible – for Windows users, here is a good description with pictures to help; skip the sections about backing up your data (if you do not need to do so) and scroll down near the bottom to the resetting your hard drive. https://www.windowscentral.com/what-do-selling-your-old-pc.If you have earlier versions https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000186.htm will be useful.
- Disinfected - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/technology-51863924/coronavirus-how-to-clean-your-smartphone-safely gives some excellent ideas.
Devices can be donated outside Oundle Town Council at Fletton House (library side entrance) on Wednesday 15 April 10-12noon. There will be a collection box and a socially distanced person!
Alternatively, please email Ian.Clark@oundle.gov.uk
