Halloween Xplorer Coming To Oundle
The Active Communities team at Freedom Leisure in East Northamptonshire have put together a series of Xplorer programmes aimed at encouraging families to enjoy the October half term.
Freedom Leisure operates three leisure facilities on behalf of East Northamptonshire Council, along with a number of health and wellbeing services and initiatives throughout the year, including Xplorer.
Xplorer is a family friendly fun navigation challenge that is educational and gives children a sense of adventure as they explore each park to find the markers. It involves a healthy mix of physical activity and decision making that the whole family can enjoy together. Xplorer is the perfect outdoor activity for primary and pre-school children and their families.
To help encourage families to become active during the half term break, the following events have been organised across the district:
- Tuesday 27 October – Oundle (New Road Recreation Ground), 11am to 1pm
- Wednesday 28 October – Irthlingborough (Central Road Recreation Ground), 11am to 1pm
An event has also been arranged in Rushden on Thursday 29th October at Hall Park between 11am and 1pm but is fully booked due to significant community interest.
All of the events are free of charge but booking must be made in advance in order to comply with current Covid-19 regulations.
Leader of East Northamptonshire Council, Cllr Steven North, said: "East Northamptonshire Council and Freedom Leisure are committed to providing high-quality leisure services for our residents, helping to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
"The Xplorer events are the perfect opportunity for families to safely enjoy fun and healthy outdoor activities this autumn."
Christopher Bryden, Active Communities Manager for Freedom Leisure in East Northants, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer Halloween themed Xplorer's across the district for this upcoming October half term. As a team, we have placed a lot of effort into ensuring each event will be Covid-secure and pre-booking will be essential in order to take part in each event."
In order to book onto each Xplorer event, participants will be required to prebook and disclose contact information to assist with NHS Track & Trace. To book, please e-mail Christopher.Bryden@freedom-leisure.co.uk.
