PARKING IN OUNDLE

As part of our commitment to businesses and residents, the Transport Working Party of Oundle Town Council (OTC) are asking that North Northants Highways (NNC) consider two changes to the timings of on-street parking in town.

OTC has no powers on highways around the town, and all authority is held by NNC. Any suggested parking changes must go through an annual review process by NNC and then a Traffic Regulation Order is published, all of which could take 18-24 months, and part of the review process is the chance to informally consult users, hence this article!

Reduce time limit outside Tesco's

Firstly, OTC would like to propose a reduction from 2 hours to 30 minutes only, to apply just to the 5 slots immediately outside Tesco's in the centre of town. We would hope to increase "churn" in those spaces, which should allow more people easier access to "pop in" to shops nearby.

Change time limit on Milton Road

Secondly, we would like to propose a change to the parking spaces on the South side of Milton Road. The timings on display presently are a hangover from when Oundle Primary School (OPS) was on Milton Road (we're suggesting a time limit of 2-4 Hours here, depending on what NNC are willing to consider). With the pull in bays constructed to allow for OPS traffic, opening up these spaces to longer term parking should help alleviate pressure on spaces closer to the turn centre, which will continue to have shorter time limits on.

If you have any informal feedback on the above ideas that we can weave into our correspondence with NNC, please contact us.
