Jubilee Sports Day

Something for everyone of all ages as Oundle kicks off its Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations with a sports day in our beautiful town where many of our Clubs will be hosting an event.

There will be lots of different sports events, from swimming to netball, tennis, football and how about an afternoon of cricket or bowls.

Let's make Oundle buzz with excitement as we celebrate sports throughout the day where all participants receive a special medal and there will be a winners shield for each sports event.

Dancing in the streets

Saturday 4 June 2022 10.00am - 2.30pm

From 10.00am to 2.30pm we plan to have a small market with food and other stalls, shop displays, fun fair, steam train, vintage car show, St Peter's Tower Tour, St Peter's children activities and 3 sound stages playing music for a variety of tastes in and around the Market Place, New Street and West Street. We'll have Union Jack bunting and we're inviting the whole town to get involved by wearing fancy dress celebrating the Queen's seventy-year reign giving us all an opportunity to participate and enter the celebratory spirit. During this event prizes for sports events ( visit Jubilee Sports Day for more info) the Best Dressed Shop Front Competition and Fancy Dress will be given out by a Town Cryer/MC in the Market Place.

We're aiming for a joyous party atmosphere where families can wander around the shops and stalls and sit down to enjoy something to eat whilst listening to one of the bands.

We'll have prizes for the best Fancy Dress on the day with prizes going to 'Best Family Group', 'Best Male Child under 12 years', 'Best Female Child under 12 years' and 'Most Colourful Outfit'. Carole Bancroft-Turner from Oundle Museum will judge the Fancy Dress competition and prizes will be handed out at in the Market Place.

At around 2:30pm the stalls will start to pack up and we'll start directing people to the next event on Fletton Field which will start from 3pm.

BAND LINE UP

We have a fantastic line up of bands playing at three venues in and around the Market Place.

The Market Place, West Street and New Street will be closed to traffic. We would encourage you to bring chairs along so you can enjoy the music and then have a picnic. There will be opportunity to purchase food and drink throughout the celebrations.

Platinum Fun in the field

Saturday 4 June 2022 3.00pm till late

For the afternoon and evening we have some fabulous entertainment lined up, with 3 locally talented bands with a spread of musical choice from blues, pop, to rock and roll. To crown the evening "Live from Buckingham Palace" on a 12m LED screen we will have "The Platinum Party at the Palace" featuring world renowned artists such as George Ezra also rumoured are Ed Sheeran, Stevie Wonder and Elton John the full line up to be confirmed.

This is a family focused party; there will be juggling and tight rope walking, children's entertainment plus the popular climbing tower from Nene Extreme plus green space to spread out in. Please either brings your own food and drink or take advantage of the on field concessions from, the beer tent, and food stalls.

To manage numbers on the field the event will be ticketed but FREE, numbers are limited so please get in early. Tickets are available from Creative Oundle Box Office in Queen Victoria Hall (Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm) or online – Creative Oundle Box Office
